Subject: Computer Systems Orientation Package

Welcome to the department of Surgery! Attached are several items that should help orient you with computer systems used in the department.

§ The E-mail Directory and Faculty Directory are yours to keep

§ The OIS Login ID Application is your request for an e-mail account. It is recommended that you complete this as soon as possible. You can submit the hard copy application, once completed, to OIS at the address printed on the reverse side of the application, or submit an on-line application at http://www.med.unc.edu/acctapp.htm When your e-mail account is created, you will receive a confidential notification of your account and password via campus mail. Call Surgery Systems Support at 3-7090 to have your e-mail configured once you have your account.

§ The Surgery Applications Request Form should be completed with your division manager, who will determine which applications you will need access to. Many of these accounts are dependent upon your e-mail account, hence the urgency in getting your e-mail account processed. Once your new accounts have been created, a Surgery Systems Support staff member will visit you to ensure that you can access all of the appropriate applications.

Your coworkers are the best resource for assistance with the use of your computer applications. If you encounter difficulties beyond their abilities or problems related to computer hardware, feel free to contact Systems Support at 3-7090.
